ねこふぁん handles information needed to provide and improve the service and deliver advertising. There are no user accounts.
Usage data
Our first-party measurement stores one anonymous event row at a time with a pathname that contains no query, the language, action type, and a small set of dimensions such as filter or content type. It does not send search terms, coordinates, contact details, or device, visitor, or session identifiers. Intent, step count and start time stay in the same tab for up to 30 minutes. A broad return window is sent at most once a day. Saved-item titles, IDs, URLs and counts stay only in this browser; the daily return snapshot includes only a true-or-false value for whether anything is saved.
Current location
We request browser permission only after you press “Find near me.” Approved coordinates pass once to the search page through temporary storage in the same tab and are deleted immediately after reading. Coordinates are not sent to our server or first-party analytics and are not placed in the URL. Displaying a map connects to Japan's Geospatial Information Authority to load map tiles.
Listing suggestions and corrections
We store the submission type, message, optional source URL, café and language in Cloudflare D1 and Formspree and notify the ねこふぁん editorial inbox. We do not collect names or email addresses and do not provide individual replies. Do not include personal information. Submissions are used only to verify and improve listings and prevent misuse.
Photo contributions
The original photo and rights or subject declarations are stored privately in Cloudflare R2 and D1 and are not public before review. A contact email is sent only to Formspree for clarification and is not stored in the photo's D1 record or R2 metadata. Raw IP addresses are not retained; a one-day irreversible hash is used to limit repeated submissions. Public derivatives are produced without location and similar metadata.
Advertising and cookies
We use Google AdSense to deliver advertising. Third-party vendors including Google may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on prior visits to this or other websites, measure performance and prevent fraud, and may process information such as the page URL and IP address. External services
Cloudflare delivers the site and stores data; Japan's Geospatial Information Authority supplies the pale map tiles used for the Japan-only map; Formspree receives form submissions and sends notifications; Google AdSense delivers advertising. Displaying the map connects to the GSI tile server. YouTube videos
Video lists display YouTube thumbnails from i.ytimg.com so you can choose what to watch. Loading a thumbnail connects to Google. The player uses YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com) and is not loaded until you press play. Google may then process device information, IP address and viewing activity. Videos remain third-party content hosted on YouTube; ねこふぁん does not redistribute them.
Retention and deletion
Our first-party usage-event rows are not retained for more than 180 days. Consult each external provider's explanation for its data handling. Submissions are kept as long as needed to verify and respond. Rejected or withdrawn photo files are deleted when no longer needed. License and audit records for published photos are retained as needed for attribution and accountability. Vet visit notes are saved only when you choose Save, with up to 50 records in this browser's local storage. Search terms and note contents are not sent to our server. Hospital preparation and rescue handover notes are not saved automatically. Other users of a shared browser profile may see records. There is no encryption, account sync or automatic backup. A manual JSON backup contains private records; importing it into another browser or URL adds notes without overwriting existing ones. The note tool's delete button or clearing browser data may remove records. The site cannot delete files you downloaded. Keep important records in a safe location.
Operation and contact
The ねこふぁん editorial team verifies listings and operates the service. Questions about data handling, deletion requests and other inquiries can be sent through the site form.
Private visit, handover and lost-cat notes
Except for saved vet visit notes, hospital preparation, rescue handover and lost-cat contact logs use input only on the open screen. They are not automatically saved or sent to our server and are lost when the page closes. Internal navigation warns about input, but it cannot protect every browser or operating-system shutdown. A visit-history export contains only saved records you explicitly select. Text, PDF and JSON files contain private records and are not encrypted. Check download and print destinations on shared devices. These notes do not contact a hospital, file an official report or submit the separate lost-cat listing request.
Entry sources
An entry records only a broad source, such as Google, social, another site, or direct/unknown, and whether it came from a referrer, an approved sharing tag, or no source information. Raw referrer URLs, search terms and arbitrary UTM values are not stored or sent. A missing referrer does not prove a direct visit. Entry events are not people or Google search clicks. Disable first-party measurement below; Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are also respected.
Cloudflare Web Analytics
We use this separate measurement to understand visits and improve page speed. Page URLs, referrer URLs, temporary per-page IDs and timing data are sent to Cloudflare. Cloudflare states that its beacon does not use cookies or browser storage. We use country information from our delivery platform to exclude the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland; unknown countries are also excluded. No location permission is requested and country data is not stored in our first-party events. The setting below and browser tracking preferences are respected. Disabling applies after reload and does not cancel reports for already-loaded pages.
If our server cannot determine the country, the browser reads Cloudflare diagnostics on this same domain. Although the response may include an IP address, we use only its country code. We do not store diagnostics or send them to analytics. If the country remains unknown, measurement does not load.

This changes first-party measurement and Cloudflare Web Analytics, then reloads this page. Reload other tabs too. It does not cancel reports for already-open pages. Favorites and saved areas still work. Server delivery logs and advertising settings are unchanged.

Participation is optional. The selected action and Japan-time week are stored in D1. IP and User-Agent are transformed into a weekly hash for duplicate prevention; raw values are not stored in participation records. Shared connections can overlap, so submissions are not people. Totals under 10 are private even in the API. Public totals are rounded down to tens; per-action counts are never public. Daily maintenance deletes records older than 180 days. This browser stores a local receipt and the last opened week. Usage analytics receives only the interaction stage, never the selected action or participation hash. Calendar download does not register an email or push subscription.
